Niamh McEvoy Dominates Opening Leg of Plusvital Premier Series at Barnadown
The Plusvital Premier Series kicked off in style, on May 11th, at Barnadown Equestrian Centre. Spanning seven of Ireland’s top venues, this prestigious series offers €15,000 in prize money at each leg, along with exclusive Plusvital supplement gift packs. The top two combinations with the best 5 placings out of the first 6 Plusvital Premier Grand Prix Series Shows will be awarded with RDS invitations.
A total of 60 combinations tackled the challenging 1.50m course designed by John Doyle in Barnadown’s world-renowned grass arena. Only 14 made it through to the second round, with the time allowed proving influential—five riders finished with a single time fault.
Niamh McEvoy stole the show claiming 3 of the top 4 placings, winning the class with Rock Warrior an 8-year-old owned by Max O’Reilly Hyland, it is by Casalla La Silla out of Cassi (SWB). She then finished 3rd on Keith Ennis’s 11year old gelding Olympic GL FVD & 4th place with another 8year old BP Rocket Man. All three horses are produced at Ballypatrick Stables under the guidance of Greg Broderick. Splitting McEvoy’s top-two finishes was Mikey Pender, who claimed second with HHS Cyprus, owned by Hughes Horse Stud. Rounding out the top six were Ethan Ahearn and LVS Goldrush H in fifth, followed by Francis Connors and Carrigshawn Vendi Royal in sixth.
Afterwards Niamh said “I am really delighted with all the horses, I had 3 in it. Rock Warrior an 8year old owned by Max O’Reilly Hyland, it was his first 150 and I thought he jumped great. Big thanks to Plusvital for sponsoring the premier league this year, it was a great start and hopefully it will continue”
The top 3 prize winners were also presented with a Plusvital Gift Pack of supplements. This included Electrolyte Plus, Electrolyte Gel, Sport Syrup, Re-Zest, Plusvital cap & a brochure.
