Summer racing off to a flying start

The second of this year’s Leopardstown Summer Series race meetings gets underway tonight, June 15th. With trainers already stacking up the points on the Plusvital Trainers Championship leader board from the first race meeting of the series on June 8th the evening also saw the crowd pleasing Coeur D’or lead the pack home in the Plusvital Speed Gene Handicap. The 7-year-old bay gelding was ridden to victory by Chris Hayes, with the pair quickening off the front to cross the finish with a strong lead. Trained by Dermot Weld, his joint owners Mark Phelan & Stephen O’Connor were on hand to see the gelding win on the day. Bred by Moyglare Stud Farm, the trainers and breeders of the top three horses in the Plusvital named races at the Leopardstown Summer Series will each receive a Plusvital Supplements & Genetics testing prize pack. The Willie McCreery trained Coill Na Sionainne, bred by Nicolas Varney, came in second place, with Longbourn for Ross O’Sullivan, bred by Tinnakill Bloodstock & P Grimes, following in third.

The winning trainer and breeder of this race will each receive €1,000 supplements & five ‘Racing Gene Pack’ genetic tests. The trainer and breeder of the second place horse will each receive €500 supplements & three ‘Racing Gene Pack’ genetic tests. Third placed trainer & breeder combinations receive €300 supplements & three ‘Speed Gene’ tests. Plusvital will sponsors another two named races throughout the Summer Series including the Plusvital Supplements Handicap on July 13th & The Vital Edge Powered by Plusvital Handicap on August 24th, the final meet of the series.

With seven race meetings still on the cards, trainers will continue to collect points across all races for placings first to third. The trainer with the most points tallied as of the 24th August will be named the Plusvital Leopardstown Summer Series Champion Trainer. While there can only be one Champion the second place and third placed trainers will receive a prize pack for their efforts. Champion Trainer will be award €1,500 supplements &  5 ‘Racing Gene Pack’ genetic tests. The Runner Up Trainer will receive €500 supplements &  3 ‘Racing Gene Pack’ genetic tests and third place trainer receives €300 supplements along with three ‘Speed Gene’ tests. The leader board as it stands sees Aidan O’Brien leading, followed closely by Joseph O’Brien. Currently in third place is Lorna Fowler.
