Naas Racecourse have today announced that Plusvital, the leading global equine science company, will continue their sponsorship of the Devoy Stakes on the opening weekend of the Irish Flat racing season.
The Plusvital Devoy Stakes is a highly competitive early season target for some of Ireland’s leading middle distance and staying horses. Now in their third year supporting Naas Racecourse, Plusvital are proud sponsors of the 1m2f Listed race, which was won last season by the Aidan O’Brien-trained Broome, who went on to secure Group 1 honours later in the campaign in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud.
In winning the race last year, Broome also had subsequent Ebor and Irish St Leger winner Sonnyboyliston behind him in third and the Johnny Murtagh-trained five-year-old looks set for another fruitful campaign following his impressive seasonal debut in Saudi Arabia last month.
Ahead of this year’s renewal on Sunday March 27th, Plusvital have also announced a new additional prize for the breeder of Sunday’s Plusvital Devoy Stakes who will now also get €500 worth of Plusvital Breeding products.
Entries for Naas this Sunday will close on Tuesday at 12pm on what promises to be a fascinating opening weekend festival of Flat racing.
Speaking on Monday morning, Ciara Watt, General Manager of Plusvital said: “We are delighted to extend our partnership with Naas Racecourse for a third year through our sponsorship of the feature race the Plusvital Devoy Stakes on the opening weekend of the flat season. This sponsorship underpins our commitment to the Irish thoroughbred industry and our valued customer base. Breeders are the backbone of the industry so we are delighted to support an additional prize this year for the winning breeder of the Plusvital Devoy Stakes with a prize worth €500. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the team at Naas Racecourse and all our customers for their support and wish everyone the very best of luck for the forthcoming Flat season.’’
Dermot Cantillon, Group 1 Cox Plate winning breeder and Chairman of Naas Racecourse added: “It’s great to see Plusvital also recognising the Breeder with a prize on offer for the Devoy Stakes. We use supplements at Tinnakill House Stud in specific cases for individual horses. It’s very important that the ones we select are formulated and manufactured to the highest standards. We have every confidence in Plusvital products and they have worked for us in treating the horses’ individual needs.”
