Plusvital, an expanding equine science/genomics company seeks an experienced molecular biology laboratory technician to work within its animal genomics laboratory. Our lab is currently doing Covid-19 testing as well as equine genomic samples.

Role:

• Manage the laboratory workflow: Sample receipt, Sample Lysis, extraction, PCR, recording, analysis and reporting
• Prepare biological samples for DNA and RNA-based laboratory analysis. This involved lysing of samples, extraction of RNA (Automated) and Rt-PCR.
• Maintaining sample prep and stock inventory.
• Operate laboratory equipment and provide technical and problem-solving support as required.
• Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for quality control and consistency of laboratory analyses and outputs.
• Participate in research work providing data collation/analysis support for genetic test development and genomics research
• Contribute to new product development as part of project teams.
• Ensure all laboratory documentation is kept up to date.
• Administrative duties including routine office work and generation of daily/monthly/weekly reports.

Requirements:

• BSc/Masters with relevant laboratory experience is an advantage but not essential
• A highly motivated flexible individual with excellent organisational skills is required for this role.
• Knowledge of molecular biology techniques including RNA extraction, endpoint, and real time quantitative PCR etc.
• Demonstrated proficiency in genomics laboratory methods.
• Preferred 1 years’ experience working in a laboratory environment.
• Excellent scientific computer literacy (MS Office applications, internet-based research)
