Last week, we announced that Dressage rider Emily-Kate Robinson was joining our Plusvital team of riders. We put some questions to Emily-Kate, find out more about our latest rider below!
Q.1) What was your childhood ambition?
To be able to compete at the highest level and to ride for Ireland.
Q.2) Growing up, who was your sporting hero?
My trainer Judy Reynolds, she has put Irish dressage on the map. She is an inspiration to me and has inspired so many young Irish riders to take up our sport.
Q.3) What sparked your love of dressage?
My brother Jamie and his partner Laura gave me a present of my first pony called Squirt, she was a show pony and wasn’t a big fan of jumping, she loved her flatwork so we started unaffiliated dressage.
Q.4) What horse/pony put you on the map?
Crown Imagine, together we competed all over Europe in 2016. We picked up several placings at CDI’s and represented Ireland at the European Championships. After 9 months of international competition we finished in the top 50 in the FEI world rankings for ponies.
Q.5) What is your most memorable dressage moment?
Being on Ireland’s first pony dressage Nations Cup team in Hagen was quiet special.
Q.6) If you weren’t a dressage rider, what would you be?
It would have to be something with horses as I couldn’t imagine my life without them!
Q.7) If you could ride one horse, what horse would that be?
I really like Isabell Werth’s ‘Bella Rose’, I have a 3yr old by the same stallion so maybe that’s the nearest thing I get to fulfilling that!
Q.8) Outside of horses, what is your favourite sporting moment?
Watching my brother Shane captain his team Shamrock Rovers against Real Madrid was pretty cool! It was Ronaldo’s first game back with Real Madrid.
Q.9) What is your favourite Plusvital product?
Flex Supp, it keeps my dressage horses joints all in good working order!
Q.10) Finally, tell us one thing about yourself that people might find surprising….
I am only 5 foot tall! People are surprised when I get down from the big horses and realise how small I am, I have the best of both worlds as I still fit on tiny ponies!
